The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission provides fully funded scholarships for students pursuing postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. The duration of a Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship is one year, and a Commonwealth PhD Scholarship is three years.

The Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Scholarships for 2026-27 are fully funded. Here are its benefits.

  • Full tuition fees.
  • An allowance of £1,452 per month and £1,781 per month for students at universities in London.
  • An airfare ticket from the home country to the UK and return to the home country at the end of the scholarship.
  • Warm clothing allowance, where appropriate.
  • Study travel stipend to cover the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas.
  • A child allowance of £622 per month for the first child, and £154 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16 for the student who is widowed, divorced, or a single parent and has children, and their children live with them in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

Students applying for the Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Scholarships for the academic year 2026-27 must meet the requirements below.

  • You must belong to an eligible country.
  • You must hold a 4-year or 2-year Bachelor’s degree to get a Master’s scholarship and an MPhil degree for a PhD scholarship.
  • You must not be registered at a UK university for Master’s or PhD studies.
  • You must be unable to afford studies at a UK university without this scholarship.

  • Firstly, fill out an application form online via the CSC Central application system, providing your academic and professional information, along with other details.
  • You must demonstrate how your study relates to development issues in your home country in the Development Impact Statement and how you can create a measurable impact.
  • Then you must apply to your home country’s designated national nominating agency according to the respective guidelines before the deadline.
