Eligibility Criteria
Students applying for the Research Fellowship 2026-27 announced by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation must meet the criteria below.
- You must hold a PhD degree that was completed within 4 years or 12 years (for experienced researchers) or up to 16 years with a substantial publication record.
- You must possess relevant academic publications in internationally reviewed journals.
- You must get confirmation of research facilities and a mentoring agreement from a German supervisor.
- You must have two expert reviews, notably including that of your doctoral supervisor.
- You must be proficient in German or English.
- You must have lived outside Germany for 12 months before applying.
- German citizens must have lived abroad for at least five years.
