The University of Guelph has offered the Canada Graduate Research Scholarships to students seeking to pursue their Master’s degree at a Canadian institution. Each scholar will receive a non-renewable annual reward from the host organisation to manage their expenses.

The University of Guelph Canada Graduate Research Scholarships – Master’s (CGRS M) Program for 2025-26 is partially funded, offering the following benefits.

• An award of $27,000 for a year, non-renewable

Eligibility Criteria

Students applying for the Canada Graduate Research Scholarships at the University of Guelph must satisfy the criteria below.

• Canadian citizens or permanent residents are qualified to apply.
• You must hold a Bachelor’s degree for admission to an MS program.
• You must be enrolled in a research-oriented Master’s degree program at the University of Guelph that requires a thesis or research, rather than a course-based program. 
• You must possess an excellent academic record.

How to Apply

Students can submit their applications for Canada Graduate Research Scholarships at the University of Guelph through the process below.

• Before applying for the scholarship, you must apply for admission to a Master’s degree at the University of Guelph. 
• Get the scholarship application through any of the agencies’ Research Portal (NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC). 
• Then, choose at least three Canadian organisations where you would like to apply for the scholarship, accompanied by the University of Guelph. 
• Upload a plain-language summary of your proposed research along with the scholarship application before the deadline.
